2. Data We Collect

2a. Advertising Data (Google AdMob)

SmartBlock displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

• Advertising Identifier (IDFA) – used for personalized ads, only when you grant App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission
• Device Identifier (IDFV) – used for fraud prevention and basic ad delivery
• App Interactions / Usage Data – which features you use, ad impressions and clicks
• Approximate Location – inferred from IP address for regional ad targeting

You are shown an App Tracking Transparency prompt at first launch. If you deny tracking, only non-personalized ads are shown and your IDFA is not collected. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

2b. Community Spam Reporting

If you use the Community feature to report a spam number, the reported phone number (not your own) and a salted hash of your IP address are sent to our server. We do not collect your own phone number or personal identity.

2c. Number Lookup

When you look up a phone number on the Number Lookup screen, that number is sent to our server (hosted in the EU, Finland) to check it against the community spam database. If you request an AI risk analysis, the number and its spam signals are forwarded to Groq, Inc. (USA) to generate the assessment. Lookups are not linked to your identity and are not stored with any personal data. Numbers are never sent automatically — only when you perform a lookup.

2d. Calls, SMS and Contacts (processed on your device)

On Android, SmartBlock uses the call screening role, SMS, call log and contacts permissions only to provide spam call and SMS protection. Incoming caller numbers, SMS messages, your call history and your contacts are processed entirely on your device against your block list, allow list and filter rules. Message contents, call history and contacts are never uploaded, sold or shared. On iOS, blocking uses Apple's Call Directory and SMS filter extensions; iOS does not give the app access to your messages or call history.

2e. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

• Block list and allow list entries you create
• App settings and preferences
• Call analytics and notification preferences
• License / purchase status

This data never leaves your device.

3. Data Sharing

We share data only as follows:

• Google AdMob – advertising data as described in §2a
• Our backend server – community spam reports (§2b) and number lookups (§2c)
• Groq, Inc. – AI risk analysis of a looked-up number, only when you request it (§2c)

We do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Data Retention

Local data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. Community spam reports on our server are retained indefinitely to improve the shared block list; no personal data is stored alongside them.

5. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

• Access / Deletion – local data: clear app storage or uninstall. Server data: email us.
• Opt-out of tracking – deny ATT permission or go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → SmartBlock.
• California residents – you may request disclosure or deletion of personal data held by us. Email: techsyncanalyticallc@gmail.com

6. Children

SmartBlock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
